Metaphor is not merely a linguistic ornament but a cognitive and motivational tool that shapes how individuals understand problems, generate solutions, and sustain motivation during complex tasks. This article explores the role of metaphor use in problem-solving motivation from cognitive psychology, linguistics, and educational perspectives. It examines how metaphorical framing influences reasoning, persistence, creativity, and motivational engagement in problem-solving contexts. The paper integrates conceptual metaphor theory, embodied cognition, and motivational psychology to demonstrate that metaphors enhance cognitive mapping, emotional engagement, and solution-oriented thinking. Empirical studies suggest that metaphorical framing can subtly guide reasoning strategies, increase creative output, and strengthen motivation by simplifying abstract challenges into relatable mental models. The article also presents analytical tables, theoretical models, and implications for education, management, and therapy.
