The Changing Landscape of English Language Teaching in India: Challenges and Innovations.

Abstract

Globalization, technological improvements and changing educational demands are all contributing to the major shift in English language teaching (ELT) in India. ELT suffers from a number of obstacles despite its significance for both academic and professional achievement, including unequal access to high-quality education, insufficient teacher preparation, examination-oriented learning, and the difficulties of multilingual classrooms. This paper looks at these issues and investigates creative ways to improve English language instruction in India. It emphasizes how curricular changes, learner-centered pedagogies, technological integration, and ongoing teacher development all contribute to increased language competence. The report also highlights the necessity of addressing socioeconomic and geographical inequities through community involvement and fair resource allocation. The paper concludes that a collaborative and inclusive approach is essential to build a future-ready English language education system that meets the diverse needs of Indian learners.
