Transformational leadership connects a shared organizational purpose with employee development and participation. This conceptual narrative review examines how idealized influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation and individualized consideration may support employee productivity. It draws on the supplied leadership literature, including meta-analytic research and studies of work engagement. The discussion identifies motivation, trust, engagement, learning and coordinated effort as potential pathways to better performance. Evidence supports positive relationships between transformational leadership and performance, while interpretation depends on the outcome measured and research design. Productivity should be assessed through quality, timeliness and resource use as well as output volume. Leadership can support these outcomes when managers translate vision into clear priorities, practical coaching and adequate resources. Its effectiveness may be limited by excessive demands, weak operational systems and dependence on a charismatic individual. The review proposes a balanced implementation approach involving employee voice, fair assessment and continuing evaluation. It reports no new survey or experimental data. Transformational leadership is most useful as part of a wider management system that supports capable employees, realistic goals and sustainable work.
