Abstract

Cyberbullying, a form of online aggression, has emerged as a significant issue in the digital age, affecting individuals of all ages. Unlike traditional bullying, cyberbullying occurs through electronic communication platforms, often enabling anonymity and reducing the emotional cues that normally inhibit harmful behavior. This article explores the psychological factors that contribute to cyberbullying, including anonymity, deindividuation, social comparison, and the role of empathy. It also examines the profound psychological effects on victims, such as anxiety, depression, impaired self-esteem, and in extreme cases, suicidal thoughts. Through understanding these psychological mechanisms, the article highlights the importance of raising awareness, providing support for victims, implementing anti-bullying policies, and fostering responsible online behavior as key strategies to address and prevent cyberbullying. The ultimate goal is to promote a safer, more empathetic online environment that prioritizes psychological well-being and discourages harmful digital practices.
